Engine Oil Pressure Test (3.0L Engine): Test
- Engine Oil Pressure -Test
Preconditions
- Low Oil Pressure Warning Message Not On (while engine running)
- Engine Oil Level Normal Condition - Refer to: Engine Oil Level Check or Engine Oil Replacement(2.0L Engine) or Engine Oil Replacement(3.0L Engine)
- Engine Oil Pressure Sensor Removed - Refer to: A/C Compressor/Engine Oil Pan Area(3.0L Engine) or A/C Compressor/Engine Oil Pan Area(2.0L Engine)
Procedure/Specifications
1. Install the oil pressure hose, the pressure gauge adapter, the A/T pressure adapter, the A/T pressure test hose, and the A/T low pressure gauge w/panel as shown, then install the engine oil pressure sensor to the pressure gauge adapter.
2. Start the engine. Shut it off immediately if the gauge registers no oil pressure. Repair the problem before continuing.
3. Allow the engine to reach operating temperature (cooling fan comes on at least twice).
Specifications
Condition Standard Value Engine oil temperature at 176 deg.F (80 deg.C) At Idle 100 kPa (1.02 kgf/cm 2, 14.5 psi) min. At 4, 000 rpm 450 kPa (4.59 kgf/cm 2, 65.3 psi) min. 4. Remove the oil pressure hose, the pressure gauge adapter, the A/T pressure adapter, the A/T pressure test hose, and the A/T low pressure gauge w/panel.
Result
- If it is abnormal, inspect these items:
-
- Oil filter blocked or plugged.
- Oil strainer blocked or plugged.
- Inspect the oil pump relief valve - Refer to: Engine Oil Pump Components(2.0L Engine) or Engine Oil Pump Components(3.0L Engine) .
