Excessive Engine Oil Consumption

Diagnostic procedure 

• Check for oil leaks.
• Check for worn valve guide(s); or worn valve seal(s) - Refer to: Valve Clearance Adjustment or Valve Inspection .
• Check for a damaged or worn piston ring(s) - Refer to: Piston, Ring, Pin, and Connecting Rod Inspection or Block and Piston Inspection .
• Check for damaged or worn engine internal parts (cylinder wall, pistons, etc.) - Refer to: Block and Piston Inspection or Cylinder Bore Honing .

Check the maintenance records as engine oil that is worn out burns off at a higher rate
