Repair Procedure: Procedure

  1. A.

    ■ Preconditions 

    ■ Key Information 

    Do the following before starting your work.

    Remove: 

    Procedure:

    ■ Sub-Procedure 

    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to bend or twist the fuel gauge sending unit arm (a) excessively. (Figure 1)

    • Removal 

    • Make sure the fuel sender wrench engages fully with the fuel tank unit cam lock ring. (Figure 2)

    • Installation 

    1. Align the tab (b) and the mark (c), and temporarily insert the fuel tank unit cam lock ring (d). (Figure 3)

    NOTE:
    • Make sure the fuel tank unit cam lock ring is seated correctly on the fuel tank unit with all tabs fully engaged.

    2. Using the fuel sender wrench, turn the fuel tank unit cam lock ring (e) clockwise. (Figure 4)

    NOTE:
    • Make sure the fuel sender wrench engages fully with the fuel tank unit cam lock ring. (Figure 4)
    • Securely set the positioning edge (f) of the fuel tank at the tab (g) on the fuel tank unit cam lock ring. (Figure 4)
    • Make sure the fuel tank unit cam lock ring is seated correctly on the fuel tank unit with all tabs fully engaged. (Figure 5)

    ■ After Installation

    Do the following before starting your work.

    ■ Sub-Procedure 

    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to bend or twist the secondary fuel gauge sending unit arm (a) excessively. (Figure 1)

    • Removal 

    • Make sure the fuel sender wrench engages fully with the fuel tank unit cam lock ring. (Figure 2)

    • Installation 

    NOTE: 1. Align the tab (b) and the mark (c), and temporarily insert the fuel tank unit cam lock ring (d). (Figure 3)
    • Make sure the fuel tank unit cam lock ring is seated correctly on the secondary fuel gauge sending unit with all tabs fully engaged.

    NOTE:

    2. Using the fuel sender wrench, turn the fuel tank unit cam lock ring (e) clockwise. (Figure 4)

    • Make sure the fuel sender wrench engages fully with the fuel tank unit cam lock ring. (Figure 4)
    • Securely set the positioning edge (f) of the fuel tank at the tab (g) on the fuel tank unit cam lock ring. (Figure 4)
    • Make sure the fuel tank unit cam lock ring is seated correctly on the secondary fuel gauge sending unit with all tabs fully engaged. (Figure 5)

    ■ After Installation

    • Removal 

    • While pressing the lock tabs, pull out the fuel fill door lock actuator.

    • Removal 

    • Lift up the holes (a) and release the lock tabs (b).

    • Removal 

    1. Disengage the retainer (a).

    2. Disengage the lock tabs (b).

    • Refer to the figure.

    ■ Sub-Procedure

    • Removal 

    • Disengage the lock tabs (a).

    • Removal 

    • While releasing the lock tab , slide the cover down .

    ■ Preconditions 

    ■ Key Information 

    NOTE:

    For the removal and installation procedure, refer to Fuel Tank Removal and Installation - Refer to: Fuel Tank Draining or Fuel Tank Removal and Installation and the sub-procedure below.

    ■ Sub-Procedure 

    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to interfere with the surrounding parts when removing/installing the pipe.
    • To support the fuel tank, use a jack or other support.

    • Removal 

    1. Disconnect the fuel vent tube (a). (Figure 1)

    2. Move the fuel tank towards the right-front side of the vehicle. (Figure 2)
