DTC U0416: Invalid Data Received From VSA Modulator-Control Unit (A/T)
NOTE:
- Before you troubleshoot, review the General Troubleshooting Information .
- This code is caused by an electrical circuit problem and cannot be caused by a mechanical problem in the transmission.

DTC (A/T)
- VSA system DTC check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- 3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 5. Check for DTCs in the VSA system with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC Freeze Frame Are any DTCs indicated?
YES
Go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting in the VSA system - Refer to: VSA System DTC Troubleshooting Index (2015-17), or VSA System DTC Troubleshooting Index (With SH-AWD) (2015-17), or VSA System DTC Troubleshooting Index (2018-19) .
NO
Go to step 2.
- Problem verification
-1. Test-drive the vehicle for several minutes under the same conditions as those indicated by the freeze data.
- 2. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame U0416 Invalid Data Received From VSA Modulator-Control Unit Is DTC U0416 indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Update the VSA modulator-control unit if it does not have the latest software - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Update (With SH-AWD), or VSA Modulator-Control Unit Update (Without SH-AWD) , then recheck. If this DTC goes away and the VSA modulator-control unit was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If this DTC is indicated after the VSA modulator-control unit was updated, replace the VSA modulator-control unit - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Removal and Installation (With SH-AWD), or VSA Modulator-Control Unit Removal and Installation (Without SH-AWD) .
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections and loose terminals between the VSA modulator-control unit and the TCM. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot.
