Engine Removal and Installation (2013-15): Installation

  1. Engine Mount Bracket - Install the engine mount brackets and the accessory brackets, then tighten their bolts to the specified torque.

  2. Engine - Install

    1. Position the engine/transmission under the vehicle. Be sure that they are properly aligned. Carefully lower the vehicle until the engine/transmission are properly positioned in the engine compartment. Make sure the vehicle is not resting on any part of the engine/transmission. Support the engine/transmission with a chain hoist (A) and carefully raise the engine/transmission into place. NOTE:  Reinstall the mounting bolts/support nuts in the sequence given in the following steps. Failure to follow this sequence may cause excessive noise and vibration, and reduce engine mount life.
  3. Upper Half of Side Engine Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Install

      1. Install the new upper half of the side engine mount bracket mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
  4. Upper Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Install

      1. Install the new upper transmission mount bracket mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
  5. Engine Hanger Adapter Set - Install

    1. Remove the service caps (A)

    2. Install the engine hanger adapters (VSB02C000037) as shown.

  6. Engine Support Hanger - Install

    1. Install the engine hanger balance bar (VSB02C000019). Attach the front arm (A) to the front cylinder head with a 10 mm (0.39 in) spacer (B) and a 10 x 1.25 mm bolt (C). Remove the rear arm from the engine hanger balance bar, then install the 2008 V6 attachment arm (SIL02C000033). Attach the 2008 V6 attachment arm to the rear cylinder head with a 10 mm (0.39 in) spacer (D) and an 8 x 1.25 mm bolt (E)

    2. Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook to the slotted hole in the engine hanger balance bar. Tighten the wing nut (F) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission.

    NOTE:
    • Be careful when working around the windshield.
    • Be careful not to damage the hood opener cable when installing the engine support hanger at the front bulkhead.
    • AAR-T1256 two sets required for stacking two cross section bars.
  7. Chain Hoist - Remove
      1. Remove the chain hoist.
  8. Vehicle - Lift
      1. Raise the vehicle.
  9. Subframe Adapter - Attach

    1. Attach the subframe adapter (VSB02C000016) to the front subframe by looping the belt (A) over the front of the front subframe, then secure the belt with its stop (B), and tighten the wing nut (C)

    2. Raise a transmission jack and line up the slots in the subframe adapter arms with the bolt holes on the transmission jack base, then securely attach them with four bolts.

  10. Front Subframe - Install
      1. Align the front subframe with the subframe alignment pin, then tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque .
  11. Lower Transmission Mount Mounting Bolt - Tighten

      1. Tighten the new lower transmission mount mounting bolts.
  12. EPS Connector - Connect
      1. Connect the EPS connectors .
  13. Vehicle - Lift
      1. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Engine Support Hanger - Remove

    1. Remove the engine support hanger, the engine hanger balance bar, the 2008 V6 attachment arm and the engine hanger adapter set, then install the service caps (A) to the cowl cover.
  15. Front Engine Mount Stop and Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Install

      1. Tighten the new front engine mount mounting bolt (A).
    2. Install the front engine mount stop (B) using new nuts.
    3. Connect the front engine mount actuator subharness connector (C).
    4. Install the ATF hose brackets (D) to the front subframe.
    5. Install the No. 6 cylinder ignition coil .
  16. Rear Engine Mount Stop and Rear Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Install

      1. Tighten the new rear engine mount mounting bolt (A)

    2. Install the front engine mount stop (B) using new nuts

    3. Connect the rear engine mount actuator subharness connector (C).

  17. Upper half of Side Engine Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Retighten

      1. Loosen the mounting bolts (A) for the upper half of the side engine mount bracket, then retighten them to the specified torque.
  18. Upper Transmission Mount Mounting Bolt - Retighten

      1. Loosen the mounting bolts (A) for the upper transmission mount bracket, then retighten them to the specified torque.
  19. Connector Bracket - Install

      1. Install the connector bracket (A) to the front cylinder head.
  20. Harness Bracket - Install

      1. Install the harness bracket (A) to the rear cylinder head.
  21. A/C Compressor - Install

      1. Install the A/C compressor.
  22. Alternator - Install
      1. Install the alternator .
  23. Radiator Assembly - Install
      1. Install the radiator assembly .
  24. Heater Hose - Connect

    1. Connect the heater hoses (A).
  25. Vehicle - Lift
      1. Raise the vehicle.
  26. Driveshaft - Install
      1. Install the driveshaft on both sides .
  27. Tie-Rod End Ball Joint - Connect
      1. Connect the tie-rod end ball joint on both sides .
  28. Stabilizer Link Ball Joint - Connect
      1. Connect the lower stabilizer link ball joint on both sides .
  29. Lower Arm Ball Joint - Connect
      1. Connect the lower arm ball joint on both sides .
  30. ATF Hose - Connect

    1. Connect the outlet side ATF hose (A) to the ATF cooler.
  31. Transfer Assembly - Install (AWD)
      1. AWD: Install the transfer assembly .
  32. Propeller Shaft - Install (AWD)
      1. AWD: Install the propeller shaft.
  33. Exhaust pipe A - Install
      1. Install exhaust pipe A .
  34. Engine Undercover - Install
      1. Install the engine undercover .
  35. Front Wheel - Install
      1. Install the front wheels .
  36. Vehicle - Lift
      1. Lower the vehicle.
  37. Steering Joint - Connect
      1. Connect the steering joint .
  38. Fuel Feed Hose - Connect

    1. Connect the fuel feed hose (A), then install the quick connect fitting cover (B) .
  39. EVAP Canister Purge Hose, Brake Booster Vacuum Hose, and Breather Hose - Connect

    1. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose (A), the EVAP canister purge hose (B), and the breather hose (C).
  40. Shift Cable - Install
      1. Install the shift cable .
  41. PCM Connector and Engine Wire Harness Connector - Connect

    1. Connect the PCM connectors (A)

    2. Connect the engine wire harness connectors (B) and install the harness clamps (C).

  42. Battery Cable and Starter Cable - Install

    1. Install the battery cable (A) and the starter cable (B).
  43. Air Cleaner - Install
      1. Install the air cleaner .
  44. Engine Cover - Install
      1. Install the engine cover .
  45. Front Grille Cover - Install
      1. Install the front grill cover .
  46. Intake Air Scoop and Air Intake Tube - Install

    1. Install the intake air scoop (A) and the air intake tube (B).
  47. Battery - Install
      1. Do the battery installation procedure .
  48. Fuel Leak - Inspect
      1. Inspect for fuel leaks. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode (do not operate the starter) so the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds and pressurizes the fuel line. Repeat this operation three times, then check for fuel leaks at any point in the fuel line.
  49. Engine Oil - Refill
      1. Refill the engine with engine oil .
  50. ATF - Refill
      1. Refill the ATF .
  51. Transmission Gear - Check
      1. Move the shift lever to each gear, and verify that the A/T gear position indicator follows the transmission range switch.
  52. Engine Coolant - Refill
      1. Refill the radiator with engine coolant and bleed the air from the cooling system .
  53. Fluid Leak - Check
      1. Check for fluid leaks.
  54. PCM - Reset
      1. Do the PCM reset procedure - Refer to: How to Troubleshoot the Fuel and Emissions Systems (2013-15), or How to Troubleshoot the A/T System (2013-15) .
  55. PCM Idle - Learn
      1. Do the PCM idle learn procedure .
  56. CKP Pattern - Clear/Learn
      1. Do the CKP pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure .
  57. Idle Speed - Inspect
      1. Inspect the idle speed .
  58. Ignition Timing - Inspect
      1. Inspect the ignition timing .
  59. Hood Support Rod Normal Position - Return
      1. Return the hood support rod to its normal position.
  60. Wheel Alignment - Check
      1. Check the wheel alignment .
