You need to tweak step 9 of the system troubleshooting procedure for DTC PI 454 (FTP sensor range/performance problem) on page 11-408 of the '03-06 MDX S/M. A blocked FTP sensor air tube can cause the MIL to come on with DTC P1454. The monitor for DTC P1454 runs right after the engine is cold-started. If you're troubleshooting that DTC after things have warmed up. you might not see a failure on the HDS, even though the air tube is blocked.

With that in mind, you should include checking the air tube for blockage in the NO response to the question Does the screen indicate FAILED? Here's how it should read:

"If the screen indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, system is OK at this time, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the FTP sensor, the EVAP canister vent shut valve, and the PCM. Also check for blockage in the FTP sensor air tube. If the screen indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to step 7 and recheck."
