DTC 26: Lateral Acceleration Sensor

  1. Clear the DTC.
  2. Turn the ignition switch OFF, then turn it ON (II) again.
  3. Test-drive the vehicle around a number of right and left hand corners.
  4. Verify the DTC.
    1. Is DTC 64 indicated? 
    2. YES  - Do the appropriate troubleshooting for DTC 64.
    3. NO  - Go to step 5.
  5. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  6. Check for continuity between the lateral acceleration sensor 3P connector terminal No. 3 and body ground.

    1. Is there continuity? 
    2. YES  - Go to step 7.
    3. NO  - Repair open in the wire between the VSA control unit and the lateral acceleration sensor.
  7. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  8. Measure the voltage between the lateral acceleration sensor 3P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.

    1. Is there about 5 V? 
    2. YES  - Go to step 9.
    3. NO  - Repair open in the wire between the VSA control unit and the lateral acceleration sensor.
  9. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  10. Disconnect VSA control unit connector C (26P) and the lateral acceleration sensor 3P connector.
  11. Start the engine.
  12. Measure the voltage between the lateral acceleration sensor 3P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.

    1. Is there 1 V or more? 
    2. YES  - Repair short to power in the wire between the VSA control unit and the lateral sensor.
    3. NO  - Go to step 13.
  13. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  14. Check for continuity between the lateral acceleration sensor 3P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.

    1. Is there continuity? 
    2. YES  - Repair short to body ground in the wire between the VSA control unit and the lateral acceleration sensor.
    3. NO  - Go to step 15.
  15. Connect VSA control unit connector C (26P) and the lateral acceleration sensor 3P connector.
  16. Do the lateral acceleration sensor inspection. See Lateral Acceleration Sensor Inspection  .
    1. Is it OK? 
    2. YES  - Go to step 17.
    3. NO  - Replace the lateral acceleration sensor.
  17. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  18. Measure the voltage between VSA control unit connector C (26P) terminal No. 7 and body ground.

    1. Is there about 2.5 V? 
    2. YES  - Check for loose VSA control unit connectors. If necessary, substitute a known-good VSA control unit, and recheck.
    3. NO  - Repair open in the wire between the VSA control unit and the lateral acceleration sensor.
