DTC P0111: Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Circuit Range/Performance Problem

NOTE: As intake air temperature increases, IAT sensor resistance decreases. IAT sensor is incorporated within the Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect MAF sensor 5-pin connector and remove MAF sensor. Reconnect sensor connector. Ensure sensor is exposed to ambient air temperature. Turn ignition on. Using a scan tool, check IAT sensor data. If ambient air temperature is indicated, go to next step. If ambient temperature is not indicated, replace MAF sensor.
  2. Using a hair dryer, warm IAT (MAF) sensor. Using scan tool, check IAT sensor data. If IAT sensor temperature increases 1.8°F (1.0°C) or more, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. If IAT sensor temperature does not increase as specified, replace MAF sensor.
