ISSUE & TIP
A 1990 Acura Legend was towed to our shop after it stopped running on the road. We determined that the distributor rotor had melted, which was affecting the accuracy of the ignition timing.
The melted rotor was caused by a damaged distributor shaft bearing. The bearing produced enough heat to melt the rotor. We were able to locate and install a replacement distributor bearing. saving the customer the cost of a replacement distributor housing. The car has been driven an additional 40,000 miles since the repair and it is still running fine.
